Big news: There’s a Salmonella outbreak linked to eggs in 14 states !

It started kinda quiet back in January of 2025, but by summer, it exploded and is outside of California, hitting at least 14 states . The CDC says almost 100 people are sick with Salmonella from some eggs that got recalled. Eighteen people were hospitalized. Good news is that nobody died.

Who’s to blame? Country Eggs, LLC out of California. Their Sunshine Yolks and Omega-3 Golden Yolks brands are the eggs you need to watch out for.

What’s going on?

The CDC figured out the outbreak came from those egg cartons. By late July, it was pretty clear that folks in different states were reporting the same type of Salmonella. The lab tests confirmed it, and the eggs matched the illnesses.

So, the officials are saying this: If you bought Sunshine Yolks or Omega-3 Golden Yolks, check your fridge now.

Which Eggs?

Here’s what to look for:

Brands: Sunshine Yolks, Omega-3 Golden Yolks

Plant number: CA-7695 (it’s on the carton)

Sell-by dates: July 1 to September 18, 2025

Where they sold them: Mostly California and Nevada

Got ’em? Don’t eat them. Toss them or take them back to the store to get your money back.

Why should you care?

Salmonella isn’t just a little upset stomach. You can get fever, diarrhea, stomach cramps, feel sick, or throw up a few hours or days after you eat the bad food.

Most people get better in about a week. But it can be really bad for kids, older people, and people with weak immune systems it can even be fatal.

That’s why the CDC says to be careful even if you feel alright, don’t eat these eggs.

How to be safe:

Check your fridge: Pitch any of the recalled cartons.

Clean up: Wash anything that touched the eggs really well.

Look for symptoms: Fever, cramps, diarrhea, feeling tired. If it gets bad, or you’re getting dried out, go see a doctor ASAP.

Pay attention: Watch for recall notices from the CDC and FDA.

What’s the bigger deal?

Everyone eats eggs which makes this outbreak a heads-up. A small mistake in food safety can spread quick, affecting families, businesses, and people’s faith in what they eat.

For parents making breakfast, or businesses getting back to normal, this is serious. It’s a reminder: we need to keep food safe all the time.

This Salmonella thing with Sunshine Yolks and Omega-3 Golden Yolks is no joke. If you have these eggs, don’t eat them! Be careful, look at the cartons, clean your fridge, and if you’re not sure, just toss them!

Sometimes, doing the simple thing like not eating a bad egg can make a huge difference.
