Benjamin Bonzi of France sent the 13th sown Daniil Medvedev crashing out of the open in a stormy night thriller that boasted chaos after an extraordinary collapse of the third set by the Russian.

Bonzi advanced to the second round after keeping the nerve to win 6-3, 7-5, 6-7 (5/7), 0-6, 6-4 in three hours and 45 minutes on Sunday night at Flushing Meadows in New York.

The game exploded in the drama in the third set when Bonzi served in Advantage in Match Point, leading 5-4 after winning the initial two sets.

After failures in his first service, Bonzi prepared to serve again when President Greg Allesworth’s referee suddenly stopped the game after a photographer entered the court error.

Allemworth asked for some time after shouting: “Not now, get out of the court, please”, before granting a new first service to Bonzi for a “delay falls for departure interference.”

That caused an incandescent reaction from Medvedev, which ran on the court to protest angry with Allworth, accusing Seijs referee to finish the early game.

“Are you a man? Are you a man?” The 2021 United States Open Champion asked Allesworth, before shouting at a microphone on the court: “Hello, wants to go home, boys. He doesn’t like being here; the game pays him, not per hour.”

Medvedev then turned to the crowd of the Louis Armstrong stadium, stirring wildly arms to encourage them to express their disgust.

While the Catcalls and the Jeers Defe Lloon, the game was a hero for more than six minutes before Bonzi finally had the opportunity to serve for the game once again.

With the French clearly shaken, Medvedev saved the game point and then forced a tiebreaker of the third set, which he won duly to keep the game alive.

But Bonzi showed a great resolution in the fifth set, twice recovering from going a breakdown before breaking the Medvedev service to seal the victory.

“It was crazy. You may have some new fans, but also some new non -fans,” Bonzi said later.

“The energy was wild. Thanks to all those who booed that they gave me energy in the fifth.”

Bonzi admitted that he had lost the duration of the composure in the clown of the third set of Medvedev.

“I never experienced something like that. Maybe we wait five minutes before the game point, and it was very difficult to play,” he said.

“I tried to keep calm and stay in the game, but it was not easy.”

Medvedev, meanwhile, collapsed in his seat after defeat, breaking a racket violently with frustration.

Medvedev becomes the first former champion to leave this year’s tournament, leaving Flushing Meadows after a disappointing year in the largest, the door managed to reach the second round only once.

Sunday’s incident remembered Medvedev’s game in 2019 on the same court, when fans attacked him for his mischief and then made fun of the crowd in his interview after the game, saying that the Jeers gave him energy. Medvedev had snatched the towel of a ball person who lasted the party and referee Damien Dumusois gave him a rape of the code. Then he threw his racket in the Dumusois directive, bordered him and then showed his middle finger next to his forehead while walking he adjusted to the chair of the referee, actions that took him to Bee fined with $ 9000 for that game.
