Toto Wolff hoping Mercedes can bounce back at the Monaco Grand Prix

Emilia Romagna’s Grand Prix was a difficult weekend for Mercedes.

The young Kimi Antonelli phenomenon began the host of his classmates at the Paddock, giving his teammates a look at what the 18 -year -old girl is doing on the Formula 1 network. But the week ended with Antonelli withdrawing from Emilia Romagna’s Grand Prix, since his W16 suffered a loss of accelerator control in Tour 4.

Things were little better for George Russell. Although it began after a strong qualification action, that qualification performance left Russell with only a set of middle tires, the preferred compound in Icola. When those tires advanced at the beginning of the race, Russell was forced today in Tour 11, forcing him to a strategy of two stops.

He took the checkered flag in P11.

Now the team hopes to recover with a strong performance at the Monaco Grand Prix.

“After a hard race in Italy, we have the opportunity to recover immediately in Monaco,” said Toto Wolff in the preview of the team’s media. “We will work hard, quickly and efficiently, to understand what caused our limitations in Icola. It is important that we get aware of that so that we can avoid any repeated performance in the future.”

Wolff emphasized the importance of Mónaco qualification, noting that on Saturdays they have been a Mercedes force this season.

“We know that Monaco is a very different challenge.” That is encouraging, but it means nothing unless we can do the job on the road. We have seen how competitive they have on Saturdays this year and that is always more intense in Monaco. “

The Mercedes head also pointed out that the mandatory rule of two stops adds “another dimension” to this year’s Monaco Grand Prix.

“We have to be the best to give our opportunity to fight for a good result on Sunday. The two mandatory stops in the Grand Prix will also add another dimension to the race,” Wolff concluded.

“We are excited by the challenge and we hope to return to the track.”
