Alex Márquez claims the first MotoGP victory of his career and takes up his brother’s leadership in the Riders World Championship.

Alex Márquez de Gresini Racing has claimed his first victory in the MotoGP race in the Spanish Grand Prix to snatch the leadership of the championship of his older brother Marc, who crashed at the beginning of the race and finished 12th.

After seven seconds in the second place in Sprints and Carreras this season, Alex claimed a victory of the dream race in the local grass on Sunday in front of more than 100,000 fans with the Spanish that implored them to increase the volume even when some corners read in the last round.

Fabio Quartararo finished second to give Yamaha his first podium from the 2023 Indonesian Grand Prix, while Francesco Bagnaia de Ducati was third.

Marc made way between the crowd to hug Alex in the winner’s circle when the two Spaniards became the first brothers to win on MotoGP.

But the day belonged to the Gresini rider who takes his older brother for a point in the classification after the checkered flag, which was agitated by the Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz.

“The best birthday, incredible. The first in Jerez is something incredible,” said Alex, who celebrated his 29th birthday on Wednesday.

“I can’t ask for more. It was a career where I was really intelligent in all movements.”

An Action Opening Tour made the Polesitter Quartararo a perfect beginning outside the line to take the lead to return one, while the winner of the Sprint on Saturday, Marc, fell to fourth place.

Alex tried to overtake three riders in front of him at first threading the needle between the bicycles, but he stopped too late and Beind fell while Marc and Bagnaia collided while pushing for his position.

With Marc running in third place and seeking to advance his teammate, the Spanish crashed in curve seven and joined in the 22nd place with a damaged bicycle while thousands of fans around the circuit groan collectively.

However, Bagnaia did not have time to relax, since Alex approached and diverted to Italian to move forward to the second and put Quartarar in her sight.

The Yamaha pilot did everything possible to keep Alex at Raya, but on Vuelta 11, the rhythm of the Ducati bicycle proved to be too superior when he surpassed Quartarrao to take a roar from the Games of La Márquez.

Once Alex was clear, Hey began to disappear in the dry of dry, since Bagnaia could not catch up and fought to overcome Quartararo, who clung to second place.

“Incredible. Being on the podium is super special, especially with Alex’s gap and to keep Pecco [Bagnaia] Behind in the race it was very difficult, “said Quartararo, the MotoGP 2021 champion.

“It’s a long bone, but very happy to return to the podium in Jerez.”
