President Trump ordered mass cuts to the White House National Security Council, sending doxes of policy experts that packed Friday, NPR to NPR.

The official said the dismissals were abruptly. The employees were notified at 4:30 pm and were asked to leave at 5 in the afternoon “we are all talking between us,” said the official, speaking under condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation. The cuts get used to deeply. For example, in the Middle East section, the staff went from 10 employees to five.

The objective of the review is to eliminate the Cracy and the duplication of the office, and most of the operation changes to its departments and agencies of origin, a second source with direct knowledge of the plans told NPR. The source spoke on condition of anonymity to protect private conversations.

After the cuts, the NSC will be left approximately the same size that was at the end of Trump’s first mandate, said the source. The White House spokesmen and the National Security Council did not respond to comments requests.

The NSC, with personnel mainly for experts in policy in loans from the State Department, the Pentagon, the intelligence agencies and other national security weapons of the Government, provides information and advice to the President for his greater diplomatic and security decisions. But in Trump’s second term, he has played a closer role.

On the other hand, Trump has leaned more in Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the envoy of the Middle East Steve Witkoff, Treasury Secretary, Scott Besent, and others in his cabinet while making foreign policy decisions instead of taking recommendations by Frak.

On May 1, Trump Effective dismissed his national security advisor Mike Waltz, the head of the NSC-IN, the first big shake of his best ranges. He said he would name Waltz to be an ambassador to the United Nations.

Rubio has been executing the NSC since then in a very unusual double role. The change was made after Waltz inadvertently invited a journalist to a private text chat that discusses military plans for strike strikes in the hutis in Yemen.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio testifies in Capitol Hill on Wednesday. The National Security Council has seen that its influence is reduced in Trump’s second mandate, since the president depends more and more Rubio and other administration officials.

Trump also reduced the NSC in his first mandate

Near the end of his first term, Trump also pressed to reduce the NSC. The review was designed by Robert O’Brien, Trump’s fourth and last national security advisor in his first term.

O’Brien, now president of the American Global Strategies consultant, wrote this Trump faced a similar challenge in his second term, saying that the NSC was too large with too much “delays” of previous administrations tried to direct. That article was one of the catalysts for the cut, according to the now official NSC trainer who spoke with NPR.

O’Brien said Trump had about 110 employees in the NSC at the end of his first mandate, and saw space for greater consolidation.

“We believe that NSC policy staff could simplify 60 people, the same number of NSC employees used by President Dwight D. Eisenhower,” O’Brien wrote in the Washington Times OP-E with Alexander Gray, CEO of his signature.
