An US Army soldier was found dead on a riverbank several miles from an air base in Honduras this weekend, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
The body of the 1st Lt. Marciano Parisano, 25, was found outside the base in Comayagua, a city in the west-center of the country, said the United States army. At 2:00 pm local time on May 3, a person informed having found a body on the banks of the Chiquito River, according to a Bulletin of the Honduran National Police. The police immediately went to the scene, police said, and launched an investigation. Duration A search in the area, the police found a damaged cell phone that allegedly belonged to Parisano, according to the police.
Comayagua is about five miles from the Soto Cano Air Base, where Parisano was parked. Parisano was there on a license, said the United States embassy in a statement.
The Honduran National Police said the agency had already identified suspects in the case and ruled out the robbery as a potential motive.
The investigation of the death of Parisano is being directed by the Honduran National Police, in coordination with the United States Embassy in Honduras and the Criminal Investigation Department of the US Army. UU., The Army and the Honduran national said both.

Parisano was a Blackhawk UH-60 pilot with the 1st Battalion, 228 Aviation Regiment, the army said. He graduated from West Point in 2023, then attended the Aviation Training School at Fort Novosel in Alabama. He obtained the range or the 1st Lt. on November 27, 2024. The Soto Cano air base was his first destination.
