The Commissioner of the Food and Medicines Administration (FDA), Martin Makary, said Thursday that “has no plans to take measures” to restrict the availability of mifepristone, the first drug used in an abortion regime of two drug drugs.
Makary made the comment on Thursday while talking at the Summit of the World Economy of Semafor, The Outlet reported.

Makary said there is the possibility that the FDA can act if the data reveals the dangers of the drug.
“There is a set of data that are arriving at the FDA in Mifepristone,” he said. “Then, if the data suggest something or tell us that it is a real signal, we can be promising that we are not going to act on that data.”
Republican senator Josh Hawley (R-MO)-whose wife argued a case of the Supreme Court against Mifepristone responded to Makary’s comments, calling the theme “exceptionally disappointing for saying the least.”
“It is not a good start in the FDA.”
