Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) doubled down on protecting illegal aliens, a week after 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman was allegedly murdered by an illegal alien.
During a press conference Wednesday, where Johnson unveiled an “Abolish ICE” snowplow, Johnson was asked if he had reconsidered “rescheduling this event” after Gorman’s death.
“This is a terrible tragedy, and what I have said from the beginning is that I will continue to use every tool available to protect the residents of the city of Chicago,” Johnson said. “This tragedy will not deter us from our work. In fact, it will challenge us all to redouble our efforts to ensure we protect every individual in every neighborhood.”
The unveiling of the “Abolish ICE” snowplow came after a “citywide contest to name six new salt trucks,” according to the Chicago Tribune.
“Abolish ICE” was “featured more than 9,000 times,” according to the outlet.
Johnson’s comments come as José Medina-Medina, 25, an illegal alien from Venezuela, was arrested and “charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, three felony counts of aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.”
John Binder of Breitbart News reported that, according to law enforcement officials, Gorman had been “walking with a group of friends” when Medina-Medina allegedly “approached the group and began shooting in their direction”:
According to police, around 1 a.m. on March 19, Sheridan Gorman was walking with a group of friends near Tobey Prinz Beach in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood when Medina-Medina, wearing a mask, allegedly approached the group and began shooting in their direction.
Gorman was shot in the head and died at the scene.
video images aware a X showed a Loyola University student speaking at a protest outside the office of Chicago, Illinois, Councilwoman Maria Hadden (D). The student was heard stating that “this was a deliberate, cold-blooded murder of an 18-year-old woman.”
The student’s comments come after Hadden suggested Gorman “may have initiated” Medina-Medina, whom he “noticed” hiding while out with friends. John Binder of Breitbart News reported that, according to police, “Medina-Medina began running behind the group and began shooting in their direction”:
Sheridan was on the dock with a group of friends when he noticed Medina-Medina hiding, alerting his friends. Police allege that Medina-Medina began running behind the group and began shooting in their direction, hitting and killing Sheridan as she fled.
In a video message, Councilwoman Maria Hadden (D), who represents the Rogers Park neighborhood where the murder occurred, apparently suggested that Sheridan may have started Medina-Medina and was simply in the “wrong place” at the “wrong time.”
