On CNN’s “The Source” on Friday, former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu said President Donald Trump “has become the swamp.”
Landrieu said: “We haven’t had a president who has done anything close to what Donald Trump has done or to the extent that he does. You know, when he ran, he said he was going to drain the swamp. He’s become the swamp. I mean, he’s been focusing on bombs and ballrooms and voting, and it’s all covered by chaos and the level of perceived corruption, the appearance of corruption. This issue of being involved in companies, you know, financially, he’s regulating and these are just things we can see. Can you imagine the things you can’t see?
He added: “And so corruption is really bad because, at the end of the day, what’s really happening is that it’s raising costs for the American people. And this is what they want the president to focus on, and that’s why they’re so angry about the burger last night, because they feel like he’s out of control, he’s lost focus, and he’s not focusing on the things that most Americans want to focus on across the country, which is not the war in Iran, but food. It’s the prices of gasoline, it’s housing prices, which he said he didn’t give a damn about. I won’t say the word, but that’s what frustrates people, so this whole election thing he’s talking about is not going to be defeated because he’s going to be defeated because he’s lost touch with the American people.”
