Everyone Says I’m Running Away

Matt Nomada looking at the little Sacred Valley in Peru

When I started traveling, my dad used to ask what I was fleeing with my trips. On another occasion, a commentator told me to stop escaping from my problems and that life began to live. “Grows,” he said.

And, years ago, there was only one blog called “Mom says I’m running away.”

I am not sure why, but there is this perception that anyone who travels in the long term and is not interested in establishing or obtaining conventional work has to Be fleeing from question.

Travelers flee from responsibility, being growth, anguish, problems, etc., etc. We are all that Peter Pans refuses to be “adults.”

While American society believes that traveling is something that everyone does in a moment, it is only the gap years after the holidays of the university or the briefs that seem to be acceptable. Take it out of your system and return to the matrix.

Those of us who lead to the nomadic lifestyles, or who remain too long in some place before reaching that last subocoration, too often we are accused of fleeing.

Yes, go traveling, but not for too long, says the world. Responsible people not only travel forever.

The nomads must have a horrible and miserable life, or we are rare, or we have had something traumatic that happens to us that we are trying to escape. People assume that we are simply fleeing our problems, fleeing from “the real world.”

And for all those people who think I’m fleeing, I say: you’re right.

Yo am Fleeing.

I’m running away from His Idea of the “real” world.

I am avoiding His Life.

I am running towards everything: towards the world, exotic places, new people, different cultures and my own idea of freedom. I am building a life that makes me happy.

While there may be exceptions (as there is everything), most people who become nomads do it because they want to experience the world, not escape their problems. They are fleeing the life of the office, travel and weekend errands, and corporate 9 to 5. are fleeing from the strict path that society has presented as “normal.” The one that makes us meaningless marching from side to side.

We (i) because to experience each culture, see all the mountains, eat different food, attend crazy festivals, meet new people and enjoy different vacations worldwide. We want to build a life that makes us happy in our own terms.

Life is short and we can only live it once. I want to look back and say that I did exciting things and live life in my own terms, not saying that I spent my life reading blogs like this duration of my lunch while I wanted to be doing the same.

No one dies saying: “If it had only been more time in the office!”

As an American, my perspective could be different. In my country, the accepted road is long and narrow: you go to the university, you get a job, you get married, buy a house, you have 2.5 children, the young and then retire. Only then, after spending time, can you enjoy the fruits of your labor? Society fits and restricts your movements to their expectations.

And any deviation is considered abnormal and strange.

People may want to travel, tell him that they envy what you do and say they would like to do the same. But they never do. Few people meet courage to make the leap, regardless of how much their heart attracts them. They are simply fascinated by a lifestyle, so they exceed the norm.

While social networks, the emergence of digital nomades and websites like this have made them leave their job to travel around the world or teach English in Thailand a little more acceptable, the general attitude remains “follows the way if you want to be normal.”

Well, I don’t want to be normal.

I feel that the reason why people tell us that we are fleeing is that they cannot understand the fact that we broke the mold and live outside the standard. TO because To break all the conventions of society, there must simply be something wrong with us. (Maybe they are also a little jealous?)

But life is whatever you do. Life is yours to create. We are all chained by the loads that Uurselves placed, whether they are invoices, errands, such as me, self -imposed blog deadlines. If you really want something, you have to chase it.

People who travel around the world do not escape life. Just the opposite. Those who break the mill, explore the world and live in their own terms are running towards a true life, in my opinion. We have a degree of freedom that many people will never experience. We become the captains of our ships.

But it is a freedom that we choose to have.

We looked around and said: “I want something different. ”

And then we get used to it.

It was that freedom and attitude that I saw in travelers years ago in Thailand that inspired me to lead the life that I am now. I saw them break the mold and thought of Myelf, “Why not me?”

I’m not running away.

No.

I’m just running towards my own idea or a normal life.

And never plan to look back.
