WNBA GMs fired off some hot takes before the season gets started

Every year, the WNBA examines the general managers of the League about the next season, with a combination of fun and serious questions. The rules are quite simple: the GMS answers 40 questions anonymously, but they are not allowed to vote for their players or team staff. We are going to immerse ourselves in some of the findings of this year’s survey.

The first and one of the most surprising results of the survey was the too homemade opinion that the Minnesota Lynx will win the WNBA finals. They received 60% of the votes throughout the League. New York arrived second with 20% of the votes, while Indiana and Las Vegas tied with 10% each. Minnesota was also the choice for the best defensive team in the league with an abundant 73% of the votes.

Minnesota continued to show while the general managers predicted that Naphesa Collier would win the MVP Prize of the League this season. Collier received 67%of the votes, with Wilson, who won last year for the third time, behind her with 25%, and Caitlin Clark in third with 8%. Collier also won the vote for the best general defender in the League with 37%. Caitlin Clark was also voted as the GMS player would sign today if they started a new team, with 50% of that vote.

Another fun result was the fact that Caitlin Clark and Chelsea Gray divided a 50/50 draw for the best league guard. A’ja Wilson and Naphesa Collier also tied in the first place in the best category of progress, each receiving 33% of the votes. Wilson also won the best center (he thought that many will agree that he is more a striker than a center, but I am wandering).

Indiana’s fever won the vote for the best movements in the low season, with 64% of that vote, and the most surprising movement of the low season to Dewanna Bonner signing in Indiana. Indiana was also voted as the team that will improve more in 2025.

Paige Bueckers was predicted as the rookie of the year 2025, winning 73% of the votes in that category. He thought that Dominique Malonga only obtained 18% of the Roty votes, was voted as the rookie who will be the best player in five years, obtaining 60% of that vote on 40% of Bueckers. Malonga, Aaliyah Nye or Las Vegas, and Mikayla Timeson or Indiana tied in a 20/20/20 division to steal the 2025 WNBA draft.

Jonquel Jones (Bahamas) was voted as the best international league player, and France won 92% of the votes for the country that produces the best talent outside the United States. A little rude that no one voted for Canada, but that’s because I’m not a GM.

Dijonai Carrington was appointed the best perimeter defender in the league, with Wilson winning the vote for the best interior defender.

When it comes to coaches, Cheryl Reeve was the favorite of the best coach in the WNBA, with 83% of the votes. Reeve also won the votes for the coach who is the best motivator, the best in the setting of the game and the coach who directs the best offensive of the League. Steph White was voted as the relocated coach who has the greatest impact on the new team. Chelsea Gray was voted as the current player who would be the best coach in the future.

Indiana won the vote for the team that will be the funniest to see in 2025, as well as the team with the most promising young nucleus. A’ja Wilson and Naphesa Collier tied for the best leader of the league, while Collier won the vote for most versatile players in the league. Gray was voted as the player with the highest basketball intellectual coefficient, as well as the player who would choose to shoot with a game in the line.
