Install pure curtainsEmbrace a soft and neutral color paletteDecorate with plantsChoose light and natural materialsMaintain intentional and minimal decorationUse the mirrors strategically

I will never forget the year in which my husband and I live in a house with a minimum natural light. We were in a temporary life situation and the house was located in the middle of trees that blocked the sun. The main areas of life were almost always thrown in the shadows, and we always had to be careful with the ice while we read the house in the winter. There is no sun in the front for a touch of ice more time to melt, so we walk cautiously around frozen concrete patches until well in March. As the year progressed, I questioned why my mood had decreased more than usual. The darkness had the tasks of his health in my mental health. If it were possible to look for new apartments, natural light was the first priority.

I thank my lucky stars every day that I now live in a house so sunlight. Our houses should become happy, and the sun is known for increasing serotonin and lifting moods. There is no better feeling than entering a room with sunlight that transmits through the windows, throwing soft shadows and cozy and illuminating corners. There is a reason why our beloved pets find the small patches of light to curl up!

Whether you live in a house soaked in the sun or that you are looking for ways to cheer a dim space, bringing light can transform your space. From transparent curtains to soft pallets and a large number of plants, here we show how to design interiors full of light.

Install pure curtains

A room without curtains can feel unfinished, as if something is missing. A window with curtains causes a space to look more polished, intentional and cohesive. And, of course, curtains dictate how natural light enters a room. Think of the curtains as the final layer that unites everything, as accessories for an outfit. In summary: Interiors full of light need curtains.

If you want to let the sun enter your space instead of protecting it, transparent curtains filter the light gently. Linen or light gauze cotton panels will create an airy and ethereal sensation and texture will help soften hard surfaces such as wood and furniture floors. The right curtains can transform a room from marked and sterile to warm and cozy in an instant.

Embrace a soft and neutral color palette

Interiors full of light shine even brighter with colors that reflect and improve natural light. While the darkest colors absorb light instead of reflecting it, warm neutrals will make a space feel open and attractive, event as the sun moves during the day. The rooms illuminated by the sun will naturally feel calm, but colors such as cream, mole and beige simply improve those feelings of feeling good.

The color does not do it to be completely out of the table: the cakes off such as blush, sage or light blue will work well while keeping the soft palette.

Decorate with plants

One of my precious possessions is a fig of the violin sheet that I have had since 2019. She brings so much beauty to my sunny home office. The figs of the violin leaf are temperamental notoriatry, so I am especially proud of how much it has grown over the years. They love the sun and make a perfect complement to a well -lit room.

Interiors full of light practically pray through plants. Plants give life to a space, add a touch of color and even improve air quality. A room does not feel complete without some vegetation, especially one with great light. Just make sure that the plants you add to your room love the direct sunlight and do not walk it. It can also be strategic about where it places them, if your plants prefer more indirect light.

Declaration plants, such as figs of violin and olive leaves, look beautiful in the corners of the living room, already both worship a lot of light. Pothos and snake plants are more distressed and are excellent for beginners of plants. The planters are also an opportunity to add color and texture to their space, so choose those who find beautiful and complement their space (and the plant!).

Choose light and natural materials

I dream of having a glazed terrace one day. I would fill it with clear wooden furniture, a warm white chair and a woven coffee table, very similar to the beautiful camille living room in the bedroom. Natural materials and soft textures are perfect for interiors full of light.

The texture is everything, especially in a room full of neutrals, so it opts for organic materials such as linen or cotton and combine them woven accents such as wicked, rattan or jute. These materials are inclined in the quiet and serene environment that a well -lit room brings naturally. Voluminous furniture will feel heavy in a light and fresh sensation space: the lighter wood and woven accents are the best.

Maintain intentional and minimal decoration

Entering a room full of decoration and Tchotchkes can feel overloaded and crowded. There is no need to pack a room illuminated with decoration, let nature speak. A room with natural light will make a room feel open and be aerated. Give yourself to some high quality decoration pieces that give you joy and keep the disorder to a minimum. An elegant coffee table book, a candle, photos framed of loved ones or a vase of flowers are perfect. Your plants also count as decoration!

Use the mirrors strategically

Style mantillos can be a fun design challenge, and my favorite way to design them is with a great mirror. Mirrors in a mantle not only make a beautiful focal point, but they can also double the amount of light in a room reflecting sunlight. This will make your space feel larger than it is, as well as brighter. A winner! Place an opposite or adjacent mirror to an optimal shine.

If your space cannot not mantle, or a place for a large mirror, any reflective surface will help bounce the light. Opt for reflected trays, or an acrylic coffee table to keep the space bright and balanced.

A house bathed in the sun is not just aesthetics, it is about creating a space that feels light and fresh. By incorporating textures, soft pallets, vegetation and natural materials, it can transform its interiors full of light in bright and cozy retreats. So go ahead and let the light in!
