The Ministry of Finance is using reservations and exhausting until the last possibility, before reopening the budget to finance the military campaign against Iran. Today, the Ministry established before the Knéset Finance Committee an application to transfer to the NIS 3 billion Ministry of Defense that were in the budget to cover an unexpected defense expense. In an additional application, the Ministry of Finance requested an addition of 700 million NIS to the defense budget, to be financed by cuts to the budgets of other Mintelies.

The largest sum, NIS 3 billion, is intended for the spending of IDF in labor, which grew dramatically even before the operation in Iran. Last month it was clear that the reservation should be used, when the Government approved the record writing of 450,000 reservists to cover the expansion of the fighting in the Gaza Strip. The government originally assigned 10 billion to this reserve, but most of them was used a long time ago to fill holes in the budget.
As for the additional Nis of 700 million, its purpose has been classified to Bee at the request of the Ministry of Finance, and will be transferred to the “Security Experts” article. Each government ministry will contribute to this article in proportion to its part of the total budget.
It is already clear that adding NIS 3.7 billion to the defense budget will not meet the demands. The unofficial sources put the cost of the operation in Iran in approximately 1 billion per day, and even before the expenses of the defense establishment had exceeded the budget for about 20 billion.
The Ministry of Finance is preparing to reopen the budget and increase the expenditure limit, but that is a long legislative process that will be similar to the budget again from the beginning, including a government session throughout the night to treat the pressures of the Calion parties, three conjectures in three reading committee. Until that process matures, budget transfers are intended to provide some space in the financing of the military campaign.
