Spanish and Portuguese governments have convinced the emergency cabinet meetings, since the causes of the interruption remain unknown.

Spain, Portugal and parts of southwest France have been beaten by a generalized blackout that paralyzed public transport, achieved the great James traffic, delayed flights and left residents unable to access cash from automatic ATMs, as public service operators.

Spanish and Portuguese governments convince emergency cabinet meetings after Monday interruption, which also briefly affected a part of the France border, Nurtheastern Spain.

The head of operations of the Operator of the Network Spain, Ree, Eduardo Prieto, told a press conference to restore energy to the Spanish Electric Red could take six to 10 hours.

The authorities could not explain the cause of the interruption at least one hour after it happened, they thought that a possible cyber attack had not ruled out the leg and investigations were exhibited, the authorities said.

The Spanish government urged residents to stay to avoid traffic chaos. “The government is working to identify the origin of this incident and dedicate all possible resources to resolve it as quickly as possible,” said Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s office.

The European Commission said it was “in contact” with local authorities “to understand the underlying cause” of the blackout. “The Commission will continue to monitor the situation and ensure that there is an exchange of information without problems between all relevant parties,” said EU executive arm spokesman.

The interruption knives the subway networks, the traffic lights

There were traffic jams in the center of the city of Madrid, since the traffic lights stopped working, said Cadena Ser Radio Station, as well as people trapped in stagnant subway cars and elevators in the Spanish capital.

Panic residents tried in vain to get a signal when the telephone lines cut. “There is no [phone] Coverage, I can’t call my family, my parents, nothing: I can’t go to work, “Carlos Condori told AFP.” People [are] Stunned, because this had never happened in Spain. “

In Cibeles Square, one of the busiest roads in the Spanish capital, the blackout of the traffic lights unleashed a cacophony of sirens, whistles and car horns while the police tried to control traffic.

The passage of Al Jazeera, Vaessen, informing of the Spanish city of Valencia, said that the interruption had seemed temporary at the beginning and that “everyone continued to do their normal business.” “But a little later, it turned out to be much bigger. ATMs do not work, traffic lights do not work.”

The Madrid tennis tournament was suspended, forcing the fifteenth Grigor Dimitrov seed and his British opponent Jacob Fearnley out of the court when the markers darkened and the upper cameras lost power.

The Portuguese police said the traffic lights were affected throughout the country, the subway was closed in Lisbon and Porto, and the trains were not working.

The Portugal Public Services Company said that “all plans for stages of the energy supply are being activated, in coordination with European energy producers and operators.”

“REN is in permanent contact with official entities, namely the National Civil Protection Authority. At the same time, the possible causes of this incident are evaluated,” said a spokesman.

In a subsequent statement, Ren attributed the interruption to a strange atmospheric phenomenon in Spain due to extreme temperature variations in the interior of the country. He added that completely restoring the country’s electricity network could take up to a week.

In France, the RTE network operator said there was an interruption of the letter, but the energy had been restored. I was investigating the cause.

“An electric incident is currently affecting Spain and Portugal, whose cause remains to be determined,” said Rte. “In France, the houses were without electricity for several minutes in the Basque Country. All power has been restored since then.”

RTE said his teams had been mobilized to help the Spanish network operator, and RTE had already restored 700MW of Spanish consumption through France.
