Bitcoins government officials and the United States have criticized the decision of the governor of Arizona Katie Hobbs to veto a bill that would have allowed the State to maintain Bitcoin as part of their official reserves.

“This will age badly,” said co -founder and Cypherpunk Jameson Lopp in a May 3 position. Bitcoin businessman (BTC) Anthony Pompliano said: “Imagine the ignorance of a politician to believe that they can make investment decisions.”

“If you can’t overcome Bitcoin, you must buy it,” said Pompliano. The cryptographic lawyer Andrew Gordon said: “We need more elected officials who understand that Bitcoin and Crypto are the future.”

Wendy Rogers, who co -crocked the bill with state representative Jeff Weninger, also expressed his disappointment.

“Politicians do not make Bitcoin no need Arizona. Arizona needs Bitcoin,” Rogers said.

On May 2, Hobbs vetoed the Bitcoin Strategic Reserve Law of Arizona, which would have allowed Arizona to invest funds seized in Bitcoin and create a reserve administered by state officials. “Today, I vetoed the bill 1025 of the Senate. The Retirement System of the State of Arizona is one of the strongest in the nation because it makes solid and informed investments,” said Hobbs.

Rogers said he would refilar the bill in his next session. Rogers also noted that Arizona’s state retirement system already has actions of Michael Saylor’s strategy (Mstr).

“That is basically a Bitcoin ETF liver. The project of strategic Bitcoin reserve of Arizona will return. Hodl,” Rogers said. The price strategy price increased by 32% in April, the most significant monthly gain since November 2024.

However, the well -known cryptoptic skeptic Peter Schiff put on the side of hobbs. “The government should not make decisions to use public funds to speculate on cryptocurrencies,” Schiff said.

Arizona would have become the first state of the United States to establish a strategic Bitcoin reserve if it had passed.

Arizona joins several other states of the United States where similar efforts have failed. Similar proposals in Oklahoma, Montana, South Dakota and Wyoming have recently stagnated or retired.
